Fear is Not of God

This is something I have come across numerous times lately and it's just really stood out to me. I guess it's something I have been needing to hear.  In my studies, both via the scriptures, as well as through the words of the Prophet and Apostles, and even just through inspirational and uplifting bloggers, the words Fear is Not of God persistently kept popping up, striking a cord with me every time.

It applies to so many things. In the past year I have been trying to evaluate things that hold me back and trying to get past them. So many mental blocks that hold me back from achieving my goals, leaving me stuck, doing nothing, going no where. And I have found that often times I'm not even aware it's fear that is holding me back, but when I dig deep, it is almost always the root problem.

Fear of not being good enough.
Fear of not being capable.
Fear of not being liked.
Fear of pain.
Fear of failure.

"Fear is perhaps the greatest barrier to success! More often than not we allow our fear to paralyze us so that we cannot act. You are in control of your own emotions! Move forward in spite of fear. Don't allow it to freeze you and the great potential you have to design your future and better the world." - Christopher A. Pearsall

And only a few days ago, after a few weeks of that line popping up, did it really sink in. God does not want us to feel fear. Honestly, I think part of the reason it took so long to sink in, and the reason I came across it so many times was because part of me feared that it wasn't true! But FEAR IS NOT OF GOD! We do not need to fear. If we are on His side, we are on the winning side. We know the end, we know the outcome. And trials will come, we know that as well, but we will grow, through Him, and we can overcome our weaknesses and trials, and come out stronger and better on the other side.

"If there is anything virtuous, lovely, of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things." And I know we are not alone in searching after, and achieving those things. I have full faith that if we are open and willing to follow the promptings of the Spirit, even though we feel we may be traveling through a fog, we will come out to a much happier, brighter life then what we could have ever brought ourselves to on our own.

Hopefully this makes sense and isn't just some random blubbering. But as I am trying myself, I suggest that if you are struggling with something, deeply evaluate the root of that problem. What's holding us back? Is it fear? Over come fear. Don't allow the chains of fear hold us captive. Fear is not of God. Life is to be enjoyed, not endured. Stop seeking out the storms caused by our fears and enjoy more fully the sunlight. We are sons and daughters of a Heavenly Father who loves us, and has a plan for each and every one of us, that he will lead us along if we let him.

Happy Sunday! xoxo

  1. How about you give the god stuff a rest, maybe you should believe in YOU, not something that doesn't exist, or people who claim to speak for the non existent God

  2. I don't feel that discussing this would be helpful. You need to come to believe in you, and no one else can do this, only you can.
You could start by only accepting things at face value.... accept only those things that have empirical proof (hint - there is none for God, despite what people who make a living from peddling religion tell you).

    1. I love discussing these types of things! I would love to try to better understand your viewpoint. Again, I invite you to email me at any time.
I do believe in myself, and I am strengthened through God who I know loves me, as He does all His children. While there are many who do believe there is no proof, I personally see the proof of His aide and His love clearly in my life, as I have spent much of my life void of His aide. The difference is night and day. I hope that one day, all people can experience the literal change that is only possible through His Love and Grace. The happiness, peace, love, and joy He can give is unmatched by anything this world can give, and unmatched by anything that men can achieve on their own.
Additionally, none of these things that I have learned have been learned from people who make a living from "peddling religion". These were all things I learned from scriptures (both in physical form, and virtual form through the free Gospel Library app) and prayer, which was also free.
I will be soon sharing a blog post about how my relationship with God has literally changed my life over the past year that I hope you will take the time to read!
