And so the hunt beings for the perfect pizza crust. Dave and I love pizza, pizza is easily one of my favorite foods. They are so easy, and versatile. The most important thing in making a perfect pizza is the crust. I have hunted down a few recipes. Today's recipe was from a friend;
Mom Manning's Pizza Dough
Makes 2 Pizza's
2 1/4 cups hot water (110-115 degrees)
1 1/4 Tbsp. Yeast
5 Tbsp. Sugar
5 Tbsp. Oil
1/4 tsp. Salt
5-6 cups Flour
Dissolve yeast in hot water. Add sugar, oil and salt. Mix. Add the first 3 cups of flour slowly until well mixed. Add the rest of the flour until it's sticky in the bowl. Kneed. Let it rise for 45 minutes - 1 hour.
After dough has risen divide in half. Roll out on floured surface. Add toppings as desired. Bake at 450 degrees on the lowest rack for 7-10 minutes.
The recipe is very similar to the recipe my mom uses. Good, but quite doughy. Not the winner. I probably could have split it into four pizzas and simply rolled it out a lot more thinly.
I also probably could have made sure to pre-heat the stone by keeping it in the oven while it was pre-heating and I know a lot of recipes advise that.
If you have a recipe that you feel is the winner please email them to abs7121@gmail.com
