Funny Stories

So I feel like I never really post any funny stories that happen to us here, and I definitely should! It's a great way to document things and share a good laugh. And we have funny some things happen...

"I went to sleep with gum in my mouth and now there's gum in my hair and when I got out of bed this morning I tripped on the skateboard and by mistake I dropped my sweater in the sink while the water was running and I could tell it was going to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day ..."

So... When we were first married one late night Dave got up to go to the bathroom, and him getting up and turning on the bathroom light woke me up. So I rolled over as I usually sleep on my side tightly curled up. And as I was rolling over I realized it was rather hard to separate my legs. I reached down and slid my hand in between my legs. I lifted my hand up to the light coming from the bathroom and I see a silhouette of stringy stickiness between my fingers. In a bit of a panic I start scraping at whatever was glued in between my legs. I then got up and went to the kitchen and got a towel super hot and used that to clean my legs off.
Gum had glued my legs together. I dunno if I had put it there for safe keeping or it made it's way down there on it's own.... But my legs were rather red and raw once I had finished cleaning it off.

I have a bad habit of falling asleep with gum in my mouth. And it's usually not much of a problem, but that moment was quite disorienting and comical.
Once  Dave had finished in the bathroom, I had managed to clean it off in that time. I remember feeling panicked as I didn't want him to find me cleaning off my legs, not knowing what he would think. But as we were laying there, starting to fall back asleep the comedy of the moment hit me and I began laughing and explained the lovely event to Dave. Who then proceeded to make fun of me to our family and friends over the next few days with the story.

And that was only one of two events.

Rather recently I woke up one morning. I work at 6:30am from home. So I wake up at 6:20 put my hair up and start work. One morning as I am putting my hair up I find a huge knot in the back of my head that I can't pull my fingers through. Yeah, it was gum. Luckily it wasn't too hard to get out. I had heard peanut butter or toothpaste work well, but the idea of peanut butter + hair grossed me out so I opted for the toothpaste, which really did nothing. So I hopped in the shower and set it as hot as I could stand. I shampooed it a few times and let conditioner sit in it for a while, brushing through and that pretty easily did the trick.

I also heard that coconut oil works well to get gum out of hair, but that stuff is way t0o pricey to waste on my dumb life choices.

So moral of the story. You probably shouldn't sleep with gum in your mouth. But if you do and get it stuck in your hair just take a hot shower and put new bottles of shampoo and conditioner on your shopping list.

Happy Friday =)
