I really enjoy doing my make up. It such a fun form of "art" in my opinion. Here are some products I've been using and liking lately.
I got this Neutrogena acne set for Christmas that I have been using. At first it dried out my skin really really badly. Most people who have severe/significant acne usually have pretty greasy skin, but I don't. So most acne products just dry out your skin to help keep your skin from producing acne. It has helped, and I currently don't have any acne on my face but I have had a recent break out on my neck... Kinda weird.... Still using it though. Hopefully that all clears up as I continue using it. After my extreme dry skin went away I was left with very soft skin, which I love.
I have been using the L'oreal True Match foundation that I have heard a lot of good things about. It was on sale when I bought it and it was like $7.29, not bad. It feels really nice on. It's a little weird to describe as it almost feels dry, but I like that. I feel that most foundations make me feel really greasy, but this one doesn't at all. Not great coverage, but overall pretty good.
On top of my foundation I have been using this Translucent Matifying Powder from ELF. I love this stuff.
"Achieve even flawless skin that's smoother, redefined and shine free. This translucent powder works on a wide variety of skin tones to help set your makeup in so it lasts longer. The silky lightweight formula also miraculously mattes skin to diminish oil and shine for a beautiful and healthy look!"
It really does a good job of everything it says it will do. I don't really have oily skin, but this really helps cover up anything the foundation didn't and helps set my foundation. I only wish the pallet came with more product because I go through it so quickly. I am easily buying a new one every 2-3 weeks. But it's only $3 so it's not too bad. Plus it's easy to keep in my purse and touch up throughout the day.
There is a Lip Butter, not sure who it's by, but I know a lot of people love it, but it's like $7. This is by Loreal and was (I think) like $4. This is the Rose Elixir color and is very faint but I really love it and would love to get more shades. Super moisturizing and doesn't feel like it dries out. I put this on and then put my red lipstick and then I add another layer of this balm. I really love the color of the red lipstick I currently have but it's super dry. So putting layers of chap stick or this balm helps keep it from drying out.
This is the lipstick I have been using from ELF, in Rich Red, which is only $3 (steal!) I have also tried using their Mineral Lipstick ($5) but it feels more dry then this one and didn't come in a nice red color.
These are the mascaras I have been using. I always use Rimmel mascaras as I feel they are usually cheaper and usually do a good job. The Scandaleyes is nice but the brush is huge as you can kind of see above. The Sexy Curves one is a pretty little brush that doesn't really clump at all, which I love. Also the little brush makes it a lot easier to apply to my lower lashes.
See, no clumps!
This is the eyeliner I have been using. I had previously been using a Rimmel one which had a very similar design and was about half the price, (this is a little over $7) but it started drying out and clumping up pretty quickly (the only common flaw I have been seeing this most Rimmel products.) This one has been great. I only use liquid liners (except for the white pencil I use on my lower waterline).
This is the lash adhesive I have been using. I didn't take a picture of it but it comes with a super tiny brush, rather then just coming in a tube like most adhesives come. I think this was a little over $4, but I feel it's pretty worth it. It's easy to apply to the lashes and (this can be a pro and a con) it dries very quickly. Most adhesives take 30-60 seconds just to become tacky and then you can put them on. This one dries within 60 seconds completely. I like not having to wait around and test if it's tacky or not.
For Christmas my family got my lots of lashes. Yesterday I tried out this set;
This set depending on where you buy them is $7-$9 which is pretty pricey as I never spend over $4 for lashes. But these are pretty nice. The ELF ones I usually buy feel flimsy but these feel thick and real. The band is also a bit thicker so it's a little more forgiving in the case you don't get it super close to your own lash line.
