I felt like there were not very many good movies that have come out this summer. There have been a few movies we rented that we didn't even finish watching because they were so dull. And even one movie we saw in theaters that I honestly almost walked out of (have never even thought about doing that before!) But there have been a few noteworthy ones, and even a couple that I think I could easily put at the top of my favorite list, so I figured I would share.
The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
I wasn't sure what to expect with this movie. I had heard nothing about it, good or bad. But it has a pretty great cast and was done by the same guy who made the Sherlock Holmes films with Robert Downey Jr which I was a fan of. This was in a great spy film. Not necessarily an original storyline, but the handsome men in handsome suits, great music, entertaining action and comedy made it fun to watch. Also, it's a pretty clean flick, minimal sex, language and violence. At least I thought so. Thumbs up!

Hector and the Search for Happiness
This is not exactly a new movie, but it was recently added to Netflix and kept catching our eye so we finally watched it. WE LOVED IT! It was so good. So heartwarming. If you were a fan of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, you will certainly like this one too. It's also a book, which I am waiting for Dave to read, but I look forward to getting into.
Mad Max Fury Road
I do have some hesitations in recommending this one as it is really really odd. But it's rather mesmerizing. I've watched it twice now and I'm still not entirely sure what I watched, maybe I need to watch the old ones. But there is something about it that is entrancing. Further interesting about it, it was made with very minimal CGI. It's said that only 20% was done via CGI, which is impressive since many movies these days are the opposite with more than half of the film being CGI. We bought the movie early via Xbox Video, but realized later that it didn't include any bonus features - but was the same price for the DVD, which would have included bonus features. Will never make that mistake again! Keeping my eyes peeled for a deal on the DVD now. I am a big fan of watching all the behind the scenes stuff.
Age of Adaline
If you only decide to watch one movie from this list, let it be this one. I am usually not a fan of chick flicks or romantic movies, but this one is perfection. I have watched this movie 3 times in the past 2 weeks. This was another movie I had heard little about, good or bad, but this movie is now easily one of my top favorite movies. I have always had the biggest girl crush on Blake Lively, but I felt like she was perfect in this role. She has this perfect timeless class to her that shined in this role. It's a beautiful film, with a beautiful, original storyline, which is so rare these days. After watching it I was certain it was a book, but was surprised to find it is not. I forced Dave to watch it and even he thought it was really good. Also, I need to work on copying all her hair styles in this movie. So pretty!
