November Recap

 November was a busy month!

At the beginning of November my Dad came for a short business trip. It was officially starting to feel like fall in Texas. We went out to Boerne for dinner with some friends. We went out there a little early and explore the river and a couple parks there I had always wanted to check out. It was so pretty!

Dad's face... lol
If you have never been to Cibolo Nature Center, be sure to check this lovely place out! I can't wait to make return trips in the spring!

Later that week I did a sunrise photoshoot with some of my favorite people. Love these folks!

The sweetest picture, right?!?

We followed the session with a yummy breakfast at First Watch!

Sweet baby girl helping herself to some creamer as we wait for our food, hahaha

That Sunday our church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, held a devotional at the Alamodome in downtown San Antonio. It was a little crazy and even though we got there about an hour and a half early we had difficulty finding seating so we ended up going pretty high up, but it was such a cool and uplifting experience to hear the voice of the Prophet and apostles of the Lord.

Here are a few of my notes from then night;

SA Devotional November 18, 2018

Elder Ochoa

• Ponder and remember how merciful the Lord has been towards you and your family.
• The gospel opened my eyes of a greater vision of who I could become
• Look forward with an eye of faith
• His promises are certain. His blessings to the humble are faithful are glorious

Sister Bednar

• Identify the things you (need to) set aside to dedicate more time in the temple.
• Joy is a gift for the faithful. Christ is the source of true and lasting joy.
• Unfailing faith is fortified with prayer.

Elder Bednar

• The peace of God surpasses all understanding
• Deepen our devotion to his gospel and the atonement. Become an all in disciple of the Lord
• Shared CS Lewis quote; Christ says, "Give me All. I don't want so much of your time and so much of your money and so much of your work: I want You. I have not come to torment your natural self, but to kill it. No half-measures are any good...Hand over the whole natural self, all the desires which you think innocent as well as the ones you think wicked--the whole outfit. I will give you a new self instead. In fact, I will give you Myself: my own will shall become yours.”
• The middle ground options will be removed from us. Not making a choice is a choice. Drifting with the current will not do.
• Living the gospel is not hard. Honoring our covenants is not hard. Not living the gospel. Not honoring our covenants makes life hard.
• Making and keeping sacred covenants yolks is to Christ. Helps us pull the load, even when our pull is weak compared to him. Christ says “I am with you even unto the end.”

President Nelson

• This period of our mortal probation is studded with challenges. At times we may ask, why would God allow that to happen?
• Ether 12:27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them
• Having the eternal perspective provides clarity to challenges we face.
• Story of Horatio, 4 daughters died when ship sunk. As he thought of his grief while traveling across the sea, he wrote the hymn It is Well with My Soul. “My sin, not in part but the whole, Is nailed to His cross, and I bear it no more, Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul! For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live: If Jordan above me shall roll, No pain shall be mine, for in death as in life, Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.”
• We may each have a really serious storm in our lives. But faith in our loving god and trust in his divine plan, the pain of such a tragedy can be endured. We will live again in an eternal realm. We can be absolutely certain that we will have a second chance. To be glorified. To be given a second birth.
• Teach children so they know who they really are, and what is expected of them, so they can be a sin resistant generation. Us and our posterity were held back for this time.
• 3 Nephi 27:27 Therefore what manner of men ought ye to be? Verily I say unto you, even as I am.
• This is our glorious privilege. Whatever challenges or trials come our way, we can say, it is well with my soul.
