Dave's brother who lives in California was going to be in Utah for the 4th of July, and we didn't want to miss out on seeing him, so we made a trip. Lots of people think we are crazy for road tripping to Utah, as opposed to flying, but we always make such an adventure out the drive.
We stopped for the night in Amarillo, coming into town right at sunset.
The next morning we made our way to Rocky Mountain National Park. When we visited last year, we have no idea just how beautiful of a place it was. We both fell so deeply in love with the place and spent the next year dreaming about making a return trip.
This time we camped inside the park. Our trip was pretty last minute, so we were very lucky to be able to snag a campsite, they tend to fill up really quick and many of the campgrounds within the park were entirely full! But we ended up with the most beautiful campsite we could have imagined. We had an incredible view of the mountains surrounding us, and being a little off from the road and into the trees it felt very secluded. It couldn't have been more perfect.
Sunrise over our camp was particularly magical. Be sure the check out the video at the bottom of the post to see a time lapse!
Just as the sun started coming through the trees, a number of deer decided to come through our camp. They were so beautiful!
We cleaned up camp, wishing we were staying for far longer, and explored more of the park before continuing on to Utah.
I edited together a little video from the trip. It was seriously so magical and I can't wait to be able to visit again!
