Halloween 2015

Mom and Dad were in UT (blog post on that later) for Halloween so the girls and I made a little party of the day. We did our best decorating the house, and I busied myself in the kitchen making lots of yummy foods.

I made some yummy queso and guacamole, presented as such, thanks to a fun video posted to the Tasty facebook page. It was so easy, and turned out perfectly!

And made this very easy "bleeding" pumpkin

The girls had some friends over in the evening for food and games.

And the girls decorated a inside door as a mummy! But it didn't show up very well in pictures.


The next day we did a much needed fall photoshoot. It had been a while since we had done a photoshoot together so it was fun to get out and get some shots in the pretty fall colors! Don't hate me for posting SO MANY pictures, I just love them all! Really, just look at these colors! Looks like a paiting!

5 Years of Bliss

Thursday August 13th was our 5 year wedding anniversary! I can hardly believe it. It certainly does not feel like it's been 5 years. I am so grateful for my Bear. I am so blessed to have such a loving, thoughtful, hardworking man by my side.

I am so grateful for all the fun times we have together, just the two of us. I never would have thought that we would live in the greater DC area, and have been able to visit 7 states just in the span of a year, as well as visit gorgeous Florida twice (and possibly be going for a third time) in the same year! We are very blessed! I can't wait to see what more adventures the future holds for us!

Happy Anniversary To Us!

This past Tuesday Dave and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary! 

It's crazy to think we have been married 3 years. I really can't imagine life without my Davey. We may sometimes butt heads but I really love this guy. He is such a big sweetheart and is always so thoughtful and aware of my needs. 

I have been really sick lately and it has just reminded me of how very lucky and grateful I am to have him. He is such a kind man. I can't wait to see what lies ahead of us! 

Sorry to anyone who follows me on Instagram for my wedding picture overload, I was having fun reminiscing! 

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our lives thus far. We have so many wonderful friends and family members who have added to our adventures together that I wouldn't trade for anything and make me even more excited to see what is ahead of us. And a huge thank you to our amazing photographer, Angie Monson, who I will be forever grateful to for our wedding pictures. I am so grateful for my family, and my new(ish) family, all the Cavanaughs. I am one lucky girl!  

Spring Spring Spring Cleaning

Over the past few weekends I have been slowly doing my spring cleaning and this past weekend I finally felt like finally, I was done (mostly). I got pretty much neat and organized with everything and the little things cleaned and dusted and my art and pictures happily hanged. I have a few more things I want to hang up, once I buy frames....

Here are a few shots of our bedroom with our new bedding that I am in love with! Who knew simply getting new bedding could make a girl so happy! (even better yet, bedding I didn't have to pay for... Thanks daddy!)

I will be doing a collage of black and white wedding pictures to go over the bed, just haven't had the time, or really the money to do it. Hahaha.

And here is the other half of our bedroom: My office. I seriously should have taken pictures of the mess before! It really wasn't that bad... We just had this ever growing stack of junk mail and papers to go through that is now organized and filed away! Yay!

And a little decor I have hanging above the desk:

The Brownie was a Christmas gift from mom and dad.

The pine cone was from a hike Dave went on about a month ago that he brought back for me.

And I have new found love for Owls! This little guy came in a four pack of owl Christmas ornaments. I will replace him with a larger owl once I find one...

Waking up and coming home to my spotless and organized place is so so refreshing and relaxing!

I am super OCD about things being clean, folded, straight and in their proper place. I know I drive Dave nuts. One of the first things I said to my dad when he came to visit last week was

"Please take off your shoes, I just mopped."

I am pretty dedicated to keeping the place clean. I found this little 30 day cleaning schedule a while ago and I love it. I feel like I save all my cleaning for the weekend, my days off. Boo. But this little schedule really helps in keeping my weekends not cleaning jam packed.

I found this off of Apartment Therapy (that site is awesome!) and I printed it out and we go off of it for our cleaning. The schedule we have hung up I adjusted it a little for us but this is the exact one off the website which you can find here.

1. Surface clean living room and kitchen (pick up stray items, dust, sweep, vacuum)

2. Clean bathrooms (toilets, showers, floors, walls, mirrors)

3. Surface clean bedrooms (put away toys, clothes, dust)

4. Surface clean "extra" rooms (basement, office, play room)

5. Surface clean living room and kitchen

6. Clean bathrooms

7. Clean all interior windows (white vinegar and newspaper works great and is cheap!)

8. Sweep and vacuum all floors in the house (don't forget stairs)

9. Surface clean bedrooms

10. Deep clean living room (mirrors, baseboards, dust artwork)

11. Clean bathrooms

12. Clean out closets (hang up clothes, mittens, jackets, hats)

13. Surface clean "extra" rooms

14. Deep clean bedrooms (organize drawers, check under bed, tidy closet, dust artwork, fans, lights, mop)

15. Surface clean living room and kitchen

16. Deep clean bathrooms (clean inside drawers, inside of trash cans, tops of mirrors, tile, mop)

17. Clean all door knobs, phones, entertainment equipment (remote controls), switch plates, banisters and other things that are repeatedly touched.

18. Clean out the refrigerator, take stock of food, organize pantry

19. Clean entryway, sweep porch (if you have one), clean out car (because they're often our home away from home)

20. Surface clean living room and kitchen

21. Surface clean bathrooms

22. Surface clean bedrooms

23. Sweep and vacuum all floors in the house

24. Clean linen closet, straighten towels, sheets or regular closet if not applicable

25. Surface clean living room and kitchen

26. Deep clean kitchen (scrub appliances, wash trash cans, base boards, wipe down and straighten cabinets)

27. Surface clean bathrooms

28. Surfaces clean bedrooms

29. Clean one item you've been meaning to get to and haven't (deep clean your stove, wipe down all light fixtures, tackle a particularly unruly area)

30. Sweep and vacuum all floors in the house

To this list you can also add chores that are to be done monthly or quarterly. It's easier to plan for larger tasks like steam cleaning a sofa or heavy traffic hallway, then it feels like part of the routine instead of that thing you keep putting off and dreading.

Habits are formed by doing and one of the best ways to change a bad habit is to replace it with another action. So if the time spent right when you come home from work is usually filled with email reading and a small nap, try switching it out with your cleaning instead. Making the 20 minute time slot routine will build good habits and help you stay on top of the game without feeling like it's a real chore.

I love having a step my step to keep track of every thing to do so I don't miss anything. So helpful! Thought I would share!

Julie's Bridals

Things have been so busy! I shot a wedding over the weekend and shoot yet another tomorrow! That will mean I will have shot 2 weddings within the span of 5 days! Craziness! But so much fun!

Babies First Year Package Give-Away!

Ya, I have developed an addictions to owls.

How the package works is you get shots of your baby during their first two weeks after they have been born, next when they are able to sit up on their own, and last when they can stand. Valentines Weekend (Full Post)

Valentines weekend was lots of fun. Dave and I have been trying to be better about getting out of the house instead of staying cooped up watching our big TV over the weekend.

So....

Saturday morning Dave and I drove up to Trolly Square.

I seriously don’t remember the last time I went up there. I feel like my family use to go there a lot as I was growing up, but walking through Trolly Square was pretty heart breaking. There were so many empty shops! It’s such an awesome lay out, it’s sad how barren it is! But I was happy to find that we had a Williams Sonoma, I had no idea where one was in Utah. (But looking at there website it looks like there is one Provo, so that’s nice and close)

And (ironic) side note, Monday morning while listening to the news I found out that that Saturday was the 4 year “anniversary” of the shooting that went on at Troll Square, kinda interesting...

After that, we were both starving so we drove around for place to eat.

Almost every time we drive up to Salt Late I beg to go to the Corner Bakery, just because they are by far my favorite. But we wanted something different this time. So without much direction we just drove around Salt Lake until we found a small strip mall with a handful of restaurants.

We decided to eat at a little Greek place called Aristo’s. I honestly have not eaten much, if any Greek food and, being so so picky, I was nervous about it, but to say the least I am now a big Greek food fan.

I ordered their Chicken Wrap with a side of Orzo Pasta Salad and Dave ordered a Chicken Gyro and a Greek Salad. It was all so so so so so so yummy! I would love going back.

Also, to top off all the yumminess we enjoyed some oh so delightful baklava. Seriously so yummy. But! We did find out that you can not, CAN NOT get good "fast food" Greek food, at least in Orem. Wanting some Greek food and feeling too lazy to make it our selves and not wanting to drive clear up to Salt Lake, we went to a place in Orem that was hardly what we expected. And whats worst of all (not including the gas to get up there) we could have gone to Aristo's and only payed $5 more for a meal a million times better.

I think we will just start making it ourselves...

On Sunday we celebrated our happy 6 months of being married and Dave made an oh so yummy steak, crab legs, and coconut shrimp dinner and I made chocolate fondue for desert!
A very yummy weekend.

On Monday Valentines day Dave made a yummy little dinner with a baked chicken and potatoes with a yummy cheese sauce. And he bought me this adorable necklace and ring off of Etsy;

So cute, right!?

The shop is adorable and I have been eying lots of their products for a few weeks now!

Farmers Market

Each year, around this time in Salt Lake City, at a huge park a few blocks up from the Gateway they have a farmers market. I may be weird, but I love farmers markets. They are soooo entertaining to me. I love to see all the unique things to buy and taste the amazing and delicious foods. It all smells so good. But my favorite part is all the people. It's so diverse and they're all generally friendly. I love it.

I know I'm weird.

We (The Family) went to it on Saturday. And this time I got to use, skillfully (decently) the camera.

I ate yummy honeydew. It was so sweet and fresh. At one of the first "booths" we went to was a girl serving up wonderful looking salads. They were selling a bunch of organic stuff. (They were also burning incense that brought back fond memories and made me ache for more.) We bought two jars of pesto (that were both very good and nearly all gone now = D).

As we moved away I told my folks how pretty I thought the girl (who rang us up) was and how much I liked her hair. My folks told me to ask for a picture of her so I can base my hair cut off hers. My dad came up with me and told her we had a crazy request and I asked. She laughed and was plenty willing.

We bought a few types of yummy bread, and a few headbands (http://www.pinkbench.com/)

I saw a cute little boy with lots of hair that went out in every direction.

Near the end we came to a man making balloon animals. He made Christina and Jessica a dog and a monkey. I requested a ninja. He made both me and Megan one. They turned out pretty awesome. Mine (the black one - Halloween colors!) is holding swords and Megan's' (grey) is holding nunchucks.

After all that we drove to this warehouse place. Inside it was basically and total mess. The ways through the place were narrow. It was basically a maze. There were so many old things, they looked like they belonged in a castle. Chairs were thrown in piles. Dressers were stalked on one another. There was even a stuffed lion, and I'm pretty sure it was totally real. As I walked around I half expected a dusty old hand to reach out and grab me. It was creepy in all it's awesomeness.
